As the name suggests, MSchf can be an exclusive Mishmash of art, consumer goods, projects and other indefinable intangible values.
Now, a few years after the start of the collective based in Brooklyn, Phaidon is preparing for the publication of “Made of Mschf”, a book that withdraws the curtain to some of MSchF’s more viral creations.

MSchF provocative and ironic has flogged such comments from pop culture as a series of designer handbags that are only visible under a microscope, and as an anime dating game that helps the players generate a functional tax return.
The readers of the book find a blueprint of 12 of the projects of the collective, which emphasizes how they were designed and executed. How else could you understand the ATM ranking, an ATM that was set up in Art Basel Miami who received the users through their respective bank balance?
The 284-page “Made by Mschf” written by two of the co-founders of MSchF, Kevin Wiesner and Lukas Bentel, is largely visual and plays experiments. MSCCHF was founded in 2016 in 2016 and built in 2019 by Gabriel Whaley, Daniel Greenberg, Stephen Tetreault, Wiesner and Bentel and is known for his “Jesus shoes” and his “Satan shoes”. Both projects made a jump in consumerism and forgeried larger units. The former were made from Nike Air Max 97s and showed a golden crucifix emblem on the upper material, and the sneakers are to be injected with sacred water so that the carrier can run on water. After the rapper Lil NAS X had launched the “Satan shoes”, Nike -Sneaker came out with an opposite cross and a drop of human blood, and there was a fire storm in social media in 2021 and Nike sued Mschf for brand injury, a dispute that later settled.
In an interview, Wiesner spoke of Mschf’s internal work and how it started “a handful of people who had done things about similar sensitivity on the Internet”. He and Bentel met for the first time at the Rhode Island School of Design, later took part in the new Inc. program of the new museum and had worked together in front of Mschf for about a decade. He said that all founders essentially asked the same question: “How do you do all the creative work you want to do and somehow exist in the world?”
Before the start of MSchF, they met drinks regularly because they are not sure whether they compete or work together, ”he said. But after doing a few “small” projects together, they felt that they “worked very well together and that we really added in a way that felt generative and fresh,” said Wiesner.
When they wonder what would happen if they were only doing things, they started doing this on the condition that they would publish something new every two weeks, “come to hell or flood,” he said. Although there was no master plan about how this would go out two or three years later, the founders had the belief that they would “certainly do some interesting things. And many other doors can open interesting things, ”said Wiesner.
The trajectory of the “Jesus shoes” to the “Satan shoes” and then in the Nike complaint was set up as a “This object category almost accidentally like a vertical within the larger roof of what we did. Over time, this became an ongoing business in which they manufacture products and sell products, ”said Wiesner.

If that sounds like a mystery, it is so. He allowed that the collective “certainly has an underlying information about the criticism of consumers and that this impulses critically critically criticizes the behavior in this space.”
A typical example were the “Jesus shoes” that “the fusion of the [Nike] Swoosh and the cross – two branded logos at the top of their game. “In his view, if you deal artistically with consumerism, you want to work with products. An example of how MSchF makes art more accessible were “separated spots”, in which the color stains by Damien Hirst prints were cut out and sold as individual works of art. Since Wiesner may only see MSchF creation and suspected that this was his specialty, Wiesner said: “Only when they see a series of works side by side, does one begin to observe the similarity to the work that extends over these categories. Wiesner said whether “made by Mschf” gives away secrets: “Maybe, but I also think it’s kind of nice. There is certainly hope that the background stories behind these projects we work in the book could be helpful for people who try to do things and bring them into the world. Wiesner and Bentel will take part in the new museum with his artistic director Massimiliano Gioni on March 13.
